OH...MY...GOD...

Y'ever hear someone talk about a movie that's so frighteningly bad that you want to see it?

And then you find out that it's so frighteningly bad that the director's family has pretty much put the kibosh on the thing ever coming out on video or DVD?

Well folks, below is a link to the TRAILER of just such a film. Even the trailer is so mind-bogglingly, jaw-droppingly odd that I swear I walked around for ten minutes after seeing this saying, "what the f... what the f..." And so will you.

See?

And yes, that's Harry Nilsson SINGING the credits.

NATURAL OPTICAL ILLUSIONS

The clouds and stars were playing tricks last night. (Boy does THAT sound like the first line of a song...)

There were light, scattered clouds all over the sky, and the stars were bright enough that they created that odd illusion that they were actually BELOW the clouds. Orion looked like he was sleeping on cotton balls.

Wanna feel old? Come across a picture of an old flame -- as he or she looks NOW. Like I just did.

To be fair, she actually looks okay, kind of how I figured she'd look . But it's still a bit of a shocker.

The flame in question was a girl I met -- just like my wife some years later -- trying out for a play. We were in junior high in Wisconsin, and my hormonal free-for-all that is early adolescence was in full swing.

The coolest thing I ever got to do with her was waltz. We were both in ANOTHER play at this point, and one of the scenes was a big English ball. But we never did date or anything.

As it turns out, we just became good friends. I was a grade ahead of her, and in those days, you did ninth grade at Junior High and then moved on to high school. So by the time she got to high school, I was living in Arizona. So much for that.

------

Boy I'm glad I married my wife. She looks EXACTLY THE SAME as she did the day I met her. At least in my head she does.

We were talking about that, once. How you keep a picture of somebody in your head that usually doesn't age with the person. For example, whenever I think of Jan and she's not in front of me, it's Jan from a picture I still remember taking, in the courtyard of the old dorms at NAU. She's wearing a purple shirt with a multi-colored banded collar. She's looking over her right shoulder and smiling.

It's a waist-up picture so in my mind, my wife has no legs.

It was a really neat picture and I kept a copy of it for years in my wallet. I have no idea if I even have it anymore, but it's there in the brain-o.

WE'RE IN THE HOME STRETCH!

Just got a call from Oasis manufacturing and the CDs hit the road Monday. Just might have them by next weekend...

------

Had a good time last weekend at the Phoenix Folk Festival. I tried to post a pic here but apparently it was too big. I'll try again later.

AMAZINGLY TRUE TRIVIA

Just to spice up those weekend conversations as you belly up to the bar, begorrah:

Did you know:

Whenever Richard Nixon heard the song "Mr. Bojangles" on the radio, he'd get all choked up. (Absolutely true)

For all the hits and success they had, most of the money ABBA made went to their manager. (In fact, Benny whatsisname didn't make ANY money off his own songs until he turned them into a musical.) Gotta look at the CONTRACT, people...

On the same note, only one member of ABBA was able to get a hit record on his/her own. Do you know? I'll tell you a few lines down...

The first time George Harrison walked around New York City after coming to America, nobody recognized him. (He was 15.)

Frank Zappa wrote (but never recorded) a "love" song for his wife called "Solitude." The lyrics basically say that the reason their relationship worked was because she left him alone. It's actually kind of sappy and dare I say it, "cute."
He did have at least one band learn the song; you can hear a snippet of it (from a rehearsal tape) at http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/songs/Solitude.html The lyrics are there, too.

Okay: the ABBA alumni with the solo hit record was:

Anni-Frid, also known as Frida.

The Song: "I Know There's Something Going On," from 1981.

Now go down some green beer and win a few bar bets!

Well, they're HINTING that it MIGHT rain on Saturday. Nevertheless I'll be playing my little heart out at the folk festival. You should come.

WELL, THAT'S ONE WAY TO END A DROUGHT

After 143 days, it finally rained Saturday.

And snowed.

SNOW, I tell you -- as close to my house as Cave Creek! (For those of you in other parts of the world, that's about 20 miles from my house in PHOENIX.)

It rained and rained. And rained. All day. And then yesterday, just like that, it was over.

The desert is like that.

------

At least it didn't rain until the ever-popular closing event of the annual Alwun House Exotic Art Show completed itself on Friday night. Four very cool dance acts strutted their stuff and some made political statements as well. I would publish pics of the political statement dance act but I don't know how this blog deals with nudity so maybe I'll find something safe from one of the other presentations. We'll see.

This Saturday is the annual Phoenix Folk Festival. I will be there all day Saturday. Songwriters' circle at 11 and a show on the outdoor stage at 1 are both in my future. I also plan to check out the group Plethora, at 4 on Saturday, as an OLLLLLD friend of mine from my youth is in that band. Should be good.

SEE ME, BUT DON'T FEEL ME

Get out your red/blue glasses or just cross your eyes, and check out the 3D pix of me and the other performers at Alwun House's Erotic Music and Poetry Festivus on Feb 24!

http://www.worldsbest3d.com/mars3d.shtml

Click on the Alwun link on the main page, then click on the pix at the top of the next page. Very cool.

------

My new CD should land in my hands mere DAYS after the Phoenix Folk Festival. Oh well.
I do have my reprints of my first CD in hand and available. Come and get 'em if ya don't got already.

------

Waiting for a CD is like waiting for a baby. You hope it'll be fine, since if it isn't you're still into it for thousands of dollars.
Pace, pace, pace...

I dunno if anybody else has this problem, but I have heavy eyebrows.

Know what I mean? I can go for years and not even think about the damn things, and then all of a sudden, one hair will suddenly get so long that it collapses from its own weight and dangles in my line of sight.

Of course, I'm never near a trimmer when this happens so I usually just yank it out. I realize I'm only encouraging it to grow back faster when I do that, but hey, what's a guy to do?

------

Last week's Erotic Music and Poetry Festivus was just wonderful. I hope they ask me to host that again 'cause i had fun.
If somebody sends me pics I'll post something. (Stupid me forgot his camera.)

Next up: The Phoenix Folk Traditions Festival, March 18-19. I'm there at 1 on the 18th. Woo-Hoo!
